Ab Workouts for Women

Ab workouts for women aren’t that much different from the one’s men do.  The major difference between men and women when it comes to working out is the way they carry their body fat.  Since there is a difference in the way the sexes distribute their excess weight, they ultimately lose it differently and some workouts will be more affective for men than women and vice versa.

In a situation where you have a bit of excess fat or you want to minimize a specific area of your body, like your abdomen, men will lose it more successfully in a shorter period of time than a women will.  This is why ab workouts for women aren’t ideal for targeted fat loss.  Women carry their excess weight between the skin tissues and on top of the muscle tissue.  This means that working out the muscles will strengthen them but won’t have much of an effect on the fat in that area.  Men on the other hand, tend to carry their weight sub-dermal, as women do, but also integrated into their muscle tissue.  This is why men burn more fat by doing muscle targeting exercises.  Ab workouts for women are great for strengthening but not for fat burning.  If you want to fat burn you need to be amping up your cardiovascular activities, which will burn calories faster and eventually burn off your excess fatty tissue.

Keeping all this in mind, you still need to work out your abdominals.  Maintaining strong abdominals through ab workouts for women are essential because it helps stabilize your core and will help prevent against issues such as a weak bladder, low back pain and loss of muscle tension as you age.  Muscle tension is important to maintain throughout life because it makes things like giving birth and recovering from giving birth much easier.  Women who maintain the integrity of their core muscles tend to find that their body bounces back more quickly from pregnancy than those who do not.

The difference between ab workouts for women and ab workouts for men is that female targeted workouts primarily focus on strength and toning while male focused workouts are designed to build muscle mass and definition.  Women who routinely participate in ab workouts designed for men will notice that there midsections seem a little thicker and thier abdominals are quite defined.  If this is what you are after than great! However, if you want that lean, slender and smooth bikini stomach than you need to do ab workouts for women that utilize high repetitions in order to achieve that lean, no bulk look.

Working out isn’t rocket science but there is a science to it.  Men and women are built differently and should exercise their bodies accordingly.  Men and women also have different physical challenges to contend with throughout life so working out in a way that will better prepare you for those challenges is prudent.  Consider exercises that are targeted to you and your goals and aren’t generalized for everyone.  Ab workouts for women are a great place to start but are by no means the only exercise that is different from man to women.
